Y’all know how much I love the romance world – from the wonderful members of the Romance Writer’s of America to the professors who write about romance and the Smart Bitches who offer sassy, loving, and hilarious reviews of romance novels. I also love the editors of the Romance Writer’s Report who just published an article of mine about romance (which first appeared on the Huffington Post) in their August edition.
Now I heart The Romantic Times who have given Crossing Washington Square (out in just a few weeks!) a very nice review. Here it is and thanks RT!
The author of The Professors’ Wives’ Club takes readers back inside the ivory towers of Manhattan University. Two very different female professors in the English department work to balance the personal and the professional aspects of their lives. As readers spend time with these bright and engaging women, Rendell offers an interesting debate about the merits of studying popular fiction in an academic setting.
Summary: After experiencing a bit of celebrity within the academic world with her work on popular fiction, Rachel Grey is recruited to teach at Manhattan University. But Diana Monroe, a highly respected Sylvia Plath scholar, wasn’t in favor of the hire, and she’s not the only one. Rachel’s confidence plummets, and she wonders if she’s made a terrible mistake in coming to New York.
Then Carson McEvoy, a visiting professor from Harvard, arrives and seems to have eyes for both women, which causes even more tension. But when Diana and Rachel are sent on an undergraduate study trip to London and find themselves in the midst of an almost tragic situation, they realize their differences aren’t so hard to overcome.
